Who AfroBudgetinGirl Is For

AfroBudgetinGirl is for you if;

You’re new to budgeting and want to avoid common traps

You feel financial pressure in your relationship but can’t explain why

You’re earning but still feel financially unstable

You want to protect yourself, children and your future

You don’t just want a budget, you want awareness

Because budgeting is not just numbers. Your financial ecosystem — from family expectations to workplace pressure — creates hidden expenses that slowly destabilize your finances.

Why I Created AfroBudgetinGirl

I was born and raised in Guadeloupe, a beautiful Caribbean island. On the surface, my upbringing looked stable. But behind that reality, I was witnessing something I did not understand at the time.

FINANCIAL ABUSE

My mother had access to money — but not control. Everything required negotiation. Approval. Permission. It took me 30 years to put a name to it..

“Financial abuse is subtle. Financial abuse is silent. Financial abuse is destructive.”

A woman reading a colorful children's book titled 'Contes du Sénégal' to two young children outdoors on a sunny day. The woman has braided hair, and the children are sitting on her lap, attentively looking at the book.

But my mother taught me one thing early: "Always be financially independent." Those words became the foundation of everything I built — personally and professionally.

My Professional Background

I pursued financial independence through education and career. I studied accounting and tax in France, progressed towards Chartered Accountant level, and built a career in multinational companies — specialising in Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, and Compliance.

Today I serve as a Group Tax Manager leading international tax strategy and governance. I understand money technically, structurally, and globally.

“But for years, I made one critical mistake — I didn't apply this knowledge to my personal life.”

AfroBudgetinGirl was created to close this gap. Because technical knowledge alone is not enough. You need to understand your own financial ecosystem too.

My Financial
Reality.

At one point, I couldn't afford a flight home after losing my grandmother. That moment changed everything. Despite a strong career and high income, I experienced financial hardship. Not because I didn't earn enough. But because I wasn't prepared for real-life risks. I went through:

  • Financial Loss due to family conflict

  • Job loss and salary cuts during COVID

  • Failed succession planning

  • Multiple fraud case

  • Health-related financial impact

What Freedom
Really Means.

Today, I have property across 3 continents, emergency savings, structured financial planning for myself and my children, and a pension strategy in place.

But financial freedom is not just income. It's not just savings. It's not just investments.

FINANCIAL FREEDOM IS:

Your ability to anticipate, absorb, and recover from financial shocks.

NOT JUST:

Numbers on a spreadsheet, a savings goal, or a monthly budget tracker.

The S.I.S. Framework

AfroBudgetinGirl is built on the S.I.S Framework:

“See – Identify – Structure”

“S” See Your Financial Situation Clearly

“I” Identify Risk & Blind Spots

“S” Structure your finances for resilience

And also: Savings – Investment – Spending Strategically

Because most people are not bad with money. They were never taught how to see what could go wrong.

Budget
With Purpose.

Most budgeting advice focuses on numbers. Cut expenses. Save more. Track everything.

But that approach misses something essential: Why you are budgeting.

“Budgeting without purpose leads to frustration, inconsistency, and burnout.”

That's why I teach: Budget With Purpose — a method that connects your money to your life realities, your risks, your responsibilities, and your long-term stability.

Because your budget should reflect more than income and expenses. It should reflect your financial ecosystem:

→ Family expectations

→ Workplace pressure

→ Hidden financial obligations

→ Future life events

When your budget has purpose: decisions become clearer, priorities become easier, resilience becomes possible.

Why I Write About
Financial
Hardship.

We talk about saving, investing, debt. But we rarely talk about control, power imbalance, fear, and financial silence.

“And silence keeps people stuck.”

→ Recognize patterns early

I write about real-life financial experiences so you can:

→ Feel Seen

→ Make Informed Decisions

From Scarcity
to
Legacy.

Two women are smiling and engaging in a joyful moment, with one woman clapping her hands and the other covering her mouth in surprise or happiness, outside in a garden area with a house in the background.

“My mum lived in poverty. I lived in scarcity. My children will have a legacy.”

As an Accountant and Tax Professional, I understand money technically. Through lived experience, I understand it emotionally. AfroBudgetinGirl brings both together — to help you build stability that lasts.

I also created a resource tools for children to help them build confidence with money and not fear.

MY MISSION

AfroBudgetinGirl exists to help you
build stability that lasts.

Clarity | Structure | Protection | Resilience

Teaching the
next
generation.

Two children, a boy and a girl, are standing behind a wooden fence, looking at a cheetah sitting on a rock in the distance, at a zoo or wildlife reserve.

That's why I created How To Be a Money Smarty? — a guide to help children understand money calmly and parents teach money without passing down fear.

Legacy is built early. Financial literacy should create confidence — not anxiety. The next generation deserves to start further ahead than we did.

FOR PARENTS

Demystify money conversations at home. Build healthy financial awareness without passing down anxiety.

FOR CHILDREN

Earning, saving, spending, and goal-setting — taught calmly, practically, intentionally.
